The texture of a finely prepared steak, with a burst of flavor constructed by the combination of garlic, cumin, coriander, fresh lime, and cilantro seasonings. This is the Carne Asada, the current “Special” protein at Chipotle Mexican Grill, available for a limited time only. When I first tried the Carne Asada, I expected it to be similar to the stake it derives from. It was so much better.
In an extremely famous, popular, and all-time favorite restaurant, Chipotle knows how to deliver to its customers. A constant rush of people floods the restaurant day in and day out, so Chipotle must serve its customers as efficiently as possible. Dedicated customers cause the line to halt so they can receive fresh batches of chicken, rice, and other valued foods at Chipotle, allowing them to experience the promise of authentic food. New items cause customers to swarm to stores to try anything new or limited that Chipotle has to offer, such as the Chipotle Honey Chicken, Chimichurri sauce, and Adobo ranch.
When customers found out that Carne Asada was back, they rushed in, expecting it to be vibrant. And Chipotle delivered.
Additionally, it is visually appealing. Long, tenderly cut strips of finely grilled steak with colorful green speckles of the cilantro dotting the perfectly cooked masterpiece. Query customers browse their options, with their eyes resting on Carne’s appearance, standing out even over the finely spiced chicken.
Another way the Carne Asada continues to amaze is the quality. Chipotle is known for its real, healthy, and properly raised with the promise of only the best food, freshly made daily. Chipotle commits to local farmers and organically grown produce, picking food that matches the highest standards. They promise no added hormones. Ever. The Carne Asada follows these guidelines, like every other single ingredient in the store. You can taste the quality, freshness, and every step of the process, guaranteeing the food is real.
A Carne Asada burrito and bowl are both priced at $12.65, not counting any additional foods with extra cost, such as extra protein, guacamole, or queso blanco. While this is significantly higher than Steak at $11.25 or Chicken at $9.50, the Carne Asada has much more to offer with its seasoning, as well as being a limited protein.
As for the taste itself, it is hard to capture. I ate it in a burrito with guacamole, white rice, and cheese, simple enough to taste the flavor but enhanced by the zingy guacamole. It has a very distinct, soft, and tender texture, making it easy to bite into the long strands. The layers of seasoning are easily detectable, as well as every single precious moment it spent on the grill. The guacamole is a must when eating carne, to double the explosion of flavor. I also recommend adding tomato or corn salsa to further add flavor. The combinations are endless.
Whatever you put on top of your Chipotle order, just know that it cannot get better without Carne Asada, the crown of Chipotle’s collection, as the best protein they have to offer.
