“Hamilton: An American Musical,” the compelling hip-hop-style musical retelling of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton’s life, continues to captivate audiences nearly a decade after its release. Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote, directed, and starred as the main character in the original Broadway cast of “Hamilton.” Due to his and the rest of the cast’s hard work, the musical sold out venues almost immediately upon its 2015 release, and has only gotten bigger since.
Now celebrating its tenth anniversary, “Hamilton” is currently on its North American tour and includes 13 major cities, with more dates expected soon. The production returns to Cincinnati’s Aronoff Center in late Dec. 2025 and early Jan. 2026, marking its third visit following sold-out runs in 2019 and 2022.
Leading the cast as Alexander Hamilton himself is Tyler Fauntleroy, an accomplished actor known for his appearances in “FBI (2018)”, “Succession (2018)”, and “The Oath (2018).” A University of Wisconsin Arts Residency program graduate, Fauntleroy previously portrayed John Laurens and Phillip Hamilton in early 2023 before stepping into the spotlight of the title role.
When “Hamilton” hit Cincinnati nearly four years ago, Edred Utomi performed as Alexander Hamilton. Utomi, who began as a standby in 2018, went on to headline the production and is known for his roles in “FBI: Most Wanted (2020)”, “A Life Lived (2016)”, and “The Neu Agenda (2021).”
The show remains a standout event to local audiences. Fellow Oak Hills 2027 student Emma Singler, who attended Utomi’s headlining performance, described the live experience as “so much more emotional” than expected, adding that she loved seeing the cast’s different interpretations of the characters. Although Singler couldn’t secure tickets to the upcoming run, she said she would “absolutely recommend” the musical to anyone, even those who don’t typically shift their interests to musical theatre.
As its popularity rises, tickets to “Hamilton” are in high demand, often selling out within minutes. The most direct way for fans to get tickets is through verified ticket vendors such as Ticketmaster, Stubhub, and SeatGeek, where prices typically range from $100 to $300, varying based on seat location and city. Due to high resale demand, ticket prices on these sites could even reach into the thousands.
For those hoping to snag tickets without breaking the bank, the show offers a unique opportunity through its Ham4Ham lottery. Fans can enter for free via the “Hamilton” app or LuckySeat.com for a chance to purchase two tickets priced at only $10 each. Winners are notified by email and have up to two hours to pay online and provide a valid form of ID to verify the purchase.
For anyone unable to see “Hamilton” live, the original Broadway cast performance, released on Disney+ in 2020, offers a front-row experience from home. Whether viewed on screen or in person, “Hamilton” continues to make a boom all over the world. With its return to the Aronoff, “Hamilton” proves that a good revolution never fades from the spotlight.
