Class of ‘19 graduate Zach Moeller was nominated on February 14 for the head coaching position on the men’s varsity soccer team. This position is waiting for Oak Hills Local School Board approval, but assuming it goes, he will be replacing Bill Schroer, who was the coach for the past seven years.
Moeller was a multi-sport athlete during his junior and senior years (2018 & 2019) at Oak Hills High School. During the fall, he split time between playing for the varsity soccer team and punting and kicking for the football team. During his 2018 senior soccer season, Moeller received All-Southwest Ohio and All-State Academic awards. He was dominant in the GMC, leading the entire conference in goals scored (22), resulting in him being named First-Team All GMC. During his two years as a kicker for the Highlanders, Moeller went 31/35 on extra points and 8/16 on field goals, his longest being 41 yards.
During the winter Moeller played Basketball for the Highlanders, and was dominant. His junior year he was named 2nd team GMC after a season where he put up 236 total points (scoring 68 times from FG, 24 times from 3-PT, and 76 times from FT) on a Highlanders squad that went 18-7 and was 2nd in the GMC. His senior year was even more spectacular, where he scored 83 times from FG, 30 times from 3-PT, and 73 times from FT. This along with being the highest scorer on the Highlanders earned him First-Team All GMC accolades, and the team went 2nd in the GMC again with a 16-7 record. All stats found courtesy of the GMC Sports page. Moeller’s athletic career at Oak Hills was nothing short of prolific, and to some could be considered a potential Oak Hills Athletics Hall of Famer.
Moeller went on to the University of Cincinnati, where he played for the club soccer team while earning a degree in Secondary Science and Education. He currently teaches Science at Milford Junior High School (Dyer). All the while, he has been the head coach for our boys freshman basketball team along with being the JV Boys Soccer Coach.
Ben Hageman, the Athletic Director here at Oak Hills, was quoted on the Oak Hills Athletics Instagram saying “Early in the interview process, it became clear that Coach Moeller was the right person to lead our program…He displayed a clear vision for the direction of our program as well as a passion for Oak Hills and our athletic programs. He is a proud alumnus, eager to continue to build our men’s soccer program.” Wishing you the best of luck in the upcoming season Coach Moeller!
