The Oak Hills Men’s Volleyball season has begun. Many people are wondering if they should pay attention to the team or not. During the season, the team practices every weekday and sometimes on Saturday. The game days are usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with the occasional Monday, Wednesday, or Saturday Game. The next upcoming game for the Scots is on Tuesday, March 24, at La Salle High School.
Although the dates and times are always good to know, what does the team actually look like this year? This is the question that I asked Senior Captain Chase Dissinger. He replied: “Small group, only eight guys, but that brings us closer together, and we’re all a lot more energetic.” Even though the players’ voices matter, what do the scores show? The boys played a tri-match this past weekend, against Taylor and Kings. They left the Yellow Jackets’ home undefeated and wiped the floor in both games.
However, the team has shown glimpses of a promising season before. Last year, the squad went 14-9 and 4-4 in conference play, which is not a record to frown at. Even their win earlier in the season against the Indians couldn’t protect them from a first-round exit to Fairfield. The Scots can get their revenge on April 7 at Oak Hills.
So, back to the question at hand. Should the Oak Hills community and students tune into boys’ volleyball this year? The answer to that is absolutely, we are looking very promising with new players on the team and good wins to begin the season. A new six-foot-two addition, Senior Will Rhoads, has this to say about this team’s future: “As a first-year player, I can’t speak on how the team was in the past, but I can tell you from what I’ve seen so far, especially at our tri-match last weekend, I have very high hopes for our season. We’ve got good height, skill, and a great bond between all the guys on the team.” Good Luck to our boys this season. We will be rooting for you!
